Reciprocal Teaching Activity

  1. Based on your contract teaching/ESE/previous school experience, discuss in your groups an example of Self-Directed learning in class. Next, using the SDL spectrum, classify the above example and explain the degree of SDL experienced.
  2.  Discuss how a teacher can provide opportunities for students to become self-directed?

    2. Told kids that next topic is Light, asked them to find out more. They did. Yay SDL.

      Individual projects/blogs about certain topics.

    3. 2. Leave the class with a thought provoking question to extend learning or to introduce the topic of the next lesson.

    4. Each student is given a task booklet. In the task booklet, there are 25 questions. Each week, the student will have to read a book and complete a task at their own pace.
